How can I find out what department a specific sheriff works for?

I need to find out where a sheriff works so I can contact his department. Is there a database that lists all sheriffs?

1. Well you can probably narrow down where since you had encountered him somewhere hes allowed to patrol so just call around and ask if hes there. they will will either say "who?" or "hold on.."
2. He works for whatever county you were in at that time. Look on that departments website to see if they list there employers or call the sheriffs department.
3. A sherriff works for a county... same as deputies..
4. Like a poster indicated before, the blue code of silence will not help you get the information you need. Some ideas here may help (and this is what I would do): Google his name! Often staff comes up on those searches because they are listed in county webpages. Try diffferent search engines. Try doing an "intellius" search. His PD is going to be, more often than not, that of the town where you interacted with him. This means, he is a sheriff in Boston if that is where you dealt with him. It should help you narrow it down. To nail it, simply contact the Lieutenant on Duty at the station to help you confirm. I would not do anything via phone or talking, but put it in writing. By the way, every state and town employee's name and position are public information, so they can't deny it to you if you demand it. Good luck.
