What is the Iowa law for weather related school cancellations and number of days that need to be made up?

After 5 days of weather related public school cancellations, does the state of Iowa grant any grace days that don't need to be made up at the end of the school year?

  1. Not that i know of, i live in iowa and i believe it is state law that there must be 180 days of class per year. This winter sucks here huh!!
  2. I think the school year consists of 148 days, with 37 days each “school quarter” days of attendance in Iowa to be accredited. Usually 2 days are "built-in" as Snow days and the other days need to be made up or additional days added to make the maximum school days of attendance. I am sorry that eastern Iowa has been effected so bad by many major snow events. Does this help?
