- They are trying to serve you with court papers.
- don't know
- It probably means someone is trying to serve you with papers about a lawsuit. It also probably means you need to get some $$ together to hire a lawyer; looks like you might need one soon.
- Its Court Papers.... You need to be there when they give them to you...
- Sounds like they are trying to serve you. Is someone suing you? Small claims court? Are you a witness to an accident or a criminal case? You'll have to contact the sheriff's office and either go there or they will go to you.
- I would call and ask if they know why someone came by and left the card.
- Don't answer when somebody at your door asks you your name.
- well, has yourself or anyone you know been doing something that you have no buisness doing?if not then call and find out wht they want,if you didnt do anything,u have nothing to worry about.
- Do you owe childsupport? Are you a witness to a crime? Have you broken the law? These are all questions you need to ask your self.
- A BUSINESS CARD? That's ALL? No letter with an OFFICIAL SEAL ON IT, no INFORMATION? Whose name was on it? Where was it, stuck in your door? In your mailbox? I've never heard of such a thing! Be careful, it might be a setup for a SCAM. Do NOT call any phone number on the card. Look up the sheriff office address and phone no. in the phone book if you're curious to see if it's a match--but Do NOT give out any personal info., like your social security number, to ANYone over the phone! If the sheriffs office wants you for something, let their office send you a REAL letter on REAL letterhead with a REAL OFFICIAL SEAL on it.
- It means that the civil process officer was at your residence because they want to "serve" you with some type of legal document. Most likely, someone has filed a lawsuit against you. If/When you get served with the paperwork, you will have a certain time period to respond. If you do not respond, the court will issue a default judgment which will be entered against you (meaning that the other party will get what they are asking for). Make sure you are clear on the time you have to respond and do so. You could return their call and make arrangements with them to accept service or just wait so that they can serve you personally.
