What does it mean when your new house was inspected by the sheriff?
I recently moved into a new home that I am renting and it had a sign in the window that said that it had been inspected by the sheriff. Does this mean there was a crime committed in my house?

- Call the police department and ask them
- Make you wonder if it was once a crack house. My advice is call the sheriffs office and find out. The could have checked to see if it was up to code as far as locks on windows, etc. I could be a city ordinance to make them responsible for inspections.
- if you are in an extremely rural area maybe sherriff is building inspector for new residential construction.
- Had the house been empty for awhile? They may have been checking to see if the structure was habitable. I know that the police do that in some communities.
