How dumb is that sheriff from South Carolina trying to charge Michael Phelps?

Retard thinks he can charge a record holding gold medal Olympian for smoking marijuana when in the picture there is no marijuana! Only paraphernalia. And has this sheriff ever seen the show Intervention. People use on that show in front of the whole world to see, on FILM.

1. The sheriff wants to make a name for himself! Phelps is a national hero he should be able to smoke as much pot as he wants!
2. The sheriff is just doing his job. Just because Michael Phelps is a record holding gold medalist doesn't give him the right to break any laws. If he did break the law by smoking dope then he will be punished for it though I seriously doubt it. Charging a person doesn't mean the person is guilty or innocent. It has to be done if the person is to appear in court.
3. actually ... http://sports.yahoo.com/top/news?slug=ap-phelpssuspended&prov=ap&type=lgns he's getting into a heap of trouble over this. i mean i dont condone or condemn smoking marijuana but what do you think was in that bong? i dont think he will actually get arrested because of a picture tho!! theres no way to prove it was weed, but in some states you cant even have paraphernalia. the sheriff should relax its not like he was doing meth and driving around a playground. there are worse drugs. i think after all this michael phelps will have learned his lesson, i mean hes young only 23, hes still allowed to mess up. besides hes an Olympic champion so....the good outweighs the bad. and the show intervention, thats entirely different. its a show that revolves around getting someone help! the censors allow this show to air because of that. if it was just people shooting up and smoking crack for an hour and that was the basis of the show, yeah people would be getting arrested.

5. People who buy pot actually are buying a piece of a huge criminal network, a network that kills judges and police and reporters and bribes and corrupts police and government. They pay to make life miserable for the rest of us so that they can have their recreational drugs. If he is guilty, I think his punishment should be to put on a DEA uniform and go into a Mexican border town so he can see up close what he's buying for all of us.
6. He is a local sheriff in a small one horse town looking to gain name recognition for selling Phelps down the river...He is looking to cash in on Phelps make a score!!
