how do you get a crooked sheriff out of office? Sheriff Ricky Headley of Williamson County,Tennessee was caught in a drug bust at a local pharmacy obtaining Loratabs (1900 pills in 3 months) without a prescription. He now faces criminal charges. He is back at work and refuses to resign.
Is Jefferson Parish Sheriff's office the most corrupt in the USA? My sister's new husband just transfered there. I always believed him to be a drug dealer/cop. I looked into it and this office (which he asked to be transfered to) has a long documented history of this corruption among many others. Coincidence? Not likely! Does anyone know anything about this office in New Orleans?
Do all counties require that the Sheriff's office have a Sheriff AND a Deputy? I'm writing a screenplay that takes place in a very, very small town. I need the sheriff for a character, but my story would be easier if there was no deputy. So, does anyone know if the law requires a small town to have a deputy as well? I'm thinking somewhere in the South. Maybe the town is so small, that the sheriff doesn't need a deputy. Thanks!
Who is over a local sheriff's office? I am an old lady and was just treated terribly by a local deputy - it is just the deputy and 1 sheriff since it is very rural. What dept would be over them that I could speak with?
Harris County Sheriff's Office, or any available around Houston? I am an 18 year old and about to graduate out of High School in one more month. I was interested on being part of a team on either Sheriff's Office as a detention officer. Does anyone work for Fort Bend or Harris County Sheriff's Office that can help me out on making my career dream become true?
How Do You Get Sponsored By Orange County (FL) Sheriffs Office? Can someone please help me.. I want to become a sheriff for Orange County. I am just starting off, but I want to make sure I am doing it right. I am in the process of getting my A.S. in Criminal Justice Tech. Then I figured I would go through the Criminal Justice Academy at Valencia maybe. Is that right? And how do you get sponsored by the sheriffs office? Any help would be great!
What do you think here Sheriff's JOE Office Exoneration of Deputy in Tribune Investigation is Light on Facts? Remember when the pro lawbreakers were tossing this around as proof of racial profiling and civil rights abuse might need to think again. An allegation of racial profiling in the East Valley Tribune's Pulitzer-prize-winning series on Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio was unsubstantiated by the sheriff's office due to a series of memory lapses. We've been waiting for months for this report, the record of an internal affairs investigation against a 287(g)-trained deputy assigned to Arpaio's human smuggling unit. Reporter Ryan Gabrielson wrote about his experiences on the ridealong with deputies in his July 9 series, reporting that a deputy seemed to have spotted a violation that wasn't really there. The alleged violation became the probable cause for a traffic stop of a minivan that netted eight illegal immigrants who were being smuggled into the country. http://blogs.phoenixnewtimes.com/valleyfever/2009/05/sheriffs_office_exoneration_of.php
Does anyone know the new digital scanner frequency for Fremont County Sheriff office in Colorado? I'm using a digital scanner, (Radioshack Pro-96) I've tried Google, Yahoo, you name it- I've been searching for weeks. Most websites I've checked are outdated and have the old freq., or nothing listed for my area at all. *I know the Canon City Police, Colorado State Patrol and the Fremont County sheriff use the same Control Channel (853.9625 and 853.425) and they each have their own "talkgroup" ID numbers. The old one was "analog" 154.845) I can get Canon Police and State Patrol real clear on these freq, but not Fremont Sheriff Office. I know that Fremont County "talkgroup" is 4377, but when they talk, it sounds "digital" (screechy-computerized sounding)-like it's close to the right freq, but not quite exact, if that makes any sense. I also read that the FCC has "rebanded" Colorado 800mhz frequencies and moved them down 15mhz, whatever that means. **I have MS and I'm in wheelchair, I'm stuck indoors 24/7, 7 days a week, and listening to the scanner helps me feel more in-touch with the outside world, so any info would be very much appreciated. And so after many hours of searching the internet, I just thought I'd see if maybe, someone here knows, or if not, Does anyone know of Colorado scanner website/forum/chat room or some place where I could ask someone? {I tried to signup at "RadioReference.com" and "ScanAmerica.us, chat/forums", but never received an activation e-mail to enter their websites.} These are supposed to be the top two websites. I don't know where else to ask:( Thankyou so much for your time :)
Is the county jail usually the sheriff's office? The map shows the address as being the street of the court house, where the County Jail is. Is the Sheriff's department usually the county jail as well? Just trying to make sure because I have an interview Tomorrow. I asked him and he said its right by the Court house, my brother, a C.O. for another county said its inside the Jail itself but just looking for reassurance.
Highway Patrol, Sheriff's Office, Police Department? I'd like to know the difference between these 3 things. Out of all of them, I think I'd like to join the sheriff's office. And the sheriff's office that I looked up is really cool and has all kinds of specialized units. I love the idea of just working with traffic. But some other ones I like are the K9 Unit and the Mounted Patrol. Can anyone explain the Mounted Patrol though? I'm assuming that's the one where you have a horse. What do they do exactly?
What is our sheriffs office and police department for? We had a burglary, told the pd who did it,had a full hand on window for prints, said we were wrong, was just kids.WRONG We had a burglary at rent house, deputy drove by,stopped in road, said make of list of things missing will be back, never came back.Caught theif ourselves next day, called deputy, while she was confessing,my husband/ex-officer,asked if he was going to read her rights, deputy said"are you really going to file charges,I will have to take her to jail.Had over $5,000.00 property taken off my truck, deputy called theif to see if he really took it.never filed.Called sheriff office about kids on go karts, dirt bikes, no helmets,on county road, asked her not to put it over the air because they had scanners, she said"well at least they will stop". This has been over a period of about 10 years. They continue to ask the county for more money, at least they can drive new cars and look good. to fr chuck, my husband is x-officer,daughter is a police officer, I am a retired dispatcher, 911 and emergency mngmnt instructor.to jan h i do not make frivolous calls, and out of the incidents i mention was over a period of about 10 years.most officers are polite and courteous, as long as they don't have to make a report, that would be work,I took hundreds of calls that were frivolous to me,i took calls that were from someone who called on a regular basis, and let me tell you,i never-ever let a call go unanswered.I never had a call come in that an officer did not respond to, that is their job, they don't like it then they need to find another job.every person that called me helped to pay my bills,at the time they called it was important to them,it was their life and they needed help, and i sent it.the time will come when you will see what I mean.Police are similar to Doctors, we can't solve the problem ourselves, we have to depend on them. to largopirate-thanks
How long (estimation) is the Eviction with the Sheriff Office to schedule? The tenants breached the order of 'eviction by agreement' which has passed. They haven't left the premises just because they cannot find a place to live because of having poor renting history therefore no landlord wants to take them in because it shows on their background check that they've been involved in court for non-payments, hence the reason they have been evicted early in their lease with me. These tenants are dirty and manipulative people and I would love to have a Sheriff deal with them because I'm fed up. Now in this case I apply to the tenant and landlord board for the breached order, so that I can show the sheriff department and then they can schedule for a forced eviction? My main question is how long would it take the sheriff to kick them out? and do they give them time to leave prior to kicking them out? I called the sheriff office and the guy was being a complete douche bag with me, poor customer service so I hung up and decided to come ask here before I start with the procedures.
I am volunteering at a Sheriff's Office - research question ideas....? I need to come up with a research question for a paper and I can't seem to think of a good question to research. I was thinking of doing it on inmate grievances because I have access to those files.... and I was thinking of interviewing a few people also... any good research question suggestions? THANKS!!!
I think Maricopa Sheriff Joe Arpaio needs to be removed from office. What do you think? nother term. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: On the two occasions where he spent a night in the tent city jail he claimed that there were no special security arrangements to protect him. Truth: The Sheriff's Office Tactical Operations Unit (SWAT TEAM) was on-duty, on overtime, all night, guarding him from a nearby building. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He built the tent city jail because of overcrowding in the regular jails. Truth: To insure there were enough inmates for the much publicized tent city jail he closed an entire floor of the First Avenue Jail. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He has saved the taxpayers millions of dollars. Truth: He has cost the taxpayers millions of dollars in legal fees, lawsuits, attorneys fees, settlements, judgments, photographs of himself, videos of himself, and maintaining his personal public relations staff. Source: http://www.arpaio.com/ I support liberty and justice for ALL. Unfortunately, many bigots and loonies still want the circus to go on. Who's who? 1. Despite his official policy Sheriff Arpaio refuses to give pregnant prisoners the essential vitamins and prenatal care. 2. Many are more afraid of having one of the sheriff’s citizen volunteers peering into their backyard pool than they are are of West Nile Virus. 3. Does parading 700 prisoners down the street wearing nothing but pink shorts and flip-flops really deters crime? 4. Arizona Senator and former presidential candidate John McCain has publicly disassociated himself from Joe, and President Obama has stated his opposition to his methods. 5. The vast majority of policeman’s associations have given him a vote of no confidence. Plus, Joe is a huge LIAR: Sheriff Joe Arpaio: The Sheriff claims he has a .50 caliber machine gun for use in shooting down terrorist aircraft or explosive laden tractor-trailer rigs. He also claims the machine gun is the only one owned by a U.S. law enforcement agency. Truth: The part about the gun being the only one in U.S. law enforcement is probably true and for good reason. Other police chiefs and sheriffs realize that a .50 caliber machine gun is so powerful and so dangerous that it has no place in civilian police work. As to shooting down airplanes and destroying trucks loaded with explosives, how would Sheriff Sheriff Joe Arpaio know which ones to shoot at? It is highly unlikely that the terrorists would notify authorities when and where they are going to strike so the gun could be put in place. Also, Sheriff Sheriff Joe Arpaio stated that, unlike the U.S. Air Force, he needs no presidential authority before shooting down airplanes. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: The Norberg wrongful death lawsuit was settled out of court for $8.25 million. Sheriff Sheriff Joe Arpaio has repeatedly claimed that this cost the taxpayers nothing since it was paid by an insurance company. Truth: At the time of the settlement the county had a $1 million "deductible" on its coverage. The taxpayers had to pay the first $1,000,000 on this case and now the deductible has been raised to $5 million. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He arrested Elvis Presley. Truth: Actually, Sheriff Joe Arpaio sometimes claims to have arrested Elvis and other times he claims to have stopped him for a traffic violation. No police records nor Presley family records have ever surfaced to show any contact between Elvis and Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He invented the idea of housing prisoners in tents. Truth: The Arizona Department of Corrections has used tents for decades. Facilities in other states also used tents before Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He claims credit for feeding green bologna (surplus food) to inmates. Truth: Jails and prisons here in Arizona and all over the county feed surplus food to inmates and have done so for many years. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He was a Korean War veteran. Truth: This one is tricky. He was in the Army during the Korean War but he never set foot there. His overseas assignment was in France. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He is the "Toughest Sheriff in America". Truth: This is a title he gave himself. During his years as sheriff he has not made even one arrest and, on those rare occasions where he was present when an arrest was necessary , others had to do it. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He is the "Chief Law Enforcement Officer of the County" and has authority over all police departments and the DPS. Truth: Another meaningless title. He has no authority over other police agencies. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He broke the famous "French Connection." Truth: The people really involved in this case never heard of Sheriff Joe Arpaio. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: He was involved in "numerous gun battels" and "weekly shootout" as a DEA agent. Truth: Virtually no one in the police business believes these claims. There would be something desperately wrong with any police officer that gets into weekly shootout. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: Wants people to think he created the posse program. Truth: The modern day posse program dates back to the 1930s. These volunteer groups provide a wide range of important services to the county including search and rescue, enforcement support, and community crime prevention. Many of the posse members resent being used by Sheriff Joe Arpaio for publicity stunts like the "Van Buren Street Prostitution Patrol." Sheriff Joe Arpaio: Recidivism in the jails was reduced during his time as sheriff. Truth: Sheriff Joe Arpaio spent $10,000 in taxpayer money to have Arizona State University study recidivism in the jail system. The result showed that there was no change in the rate at which inmates returned to jail. Sheriff Joe Arpaio immediately declared that ASU was wrong. Sheriff Joe Arpaio: Prior to his election he declared that the sheriff should be an appointed position like that of chiefs of police and that he would only serve one term. Truth: Within weeks of his election he "changed his mind" and announced he would run for a
How can I report a dangerous driver? Already reported to Sheriffs office..? My neighbor across the street is 97 yrs old, has a girlfriend 87. They have almost knocked down my mailbox, because neither of them can see to back out of their driveway. I have notified the Sheriff's office and they do nothing. This pair should not be driving, they are a danger to themselves and others. He drives most of the time. He can barely walk, was at one time legally blind and cannot hear when he doesn't wear his hearing aid. He has no reflexes should he face an emmergency. How can I get the attention of officials about this situation?
Can a sheriff's office be liable if a deputy commited a crime while on duty. ? For example, the deputy was doing an investigation and he then used that excuse to illegally hack into ones email account to then disclose the personal emails to others to defame them. When the person complained to the Sheriff, he did nothing. The deputy admitted to breaking the law and told the Sheriff that he would gladly do it again. When the person who was the victim of the crime called around to persons on the civil service commission, the Sheriff called the victims attorney and instructed them to send the message to the victim, which was "they are barking up the wrong tree." The victim made another complaint, this time to the chief deputy regarding the same deputy who had another deputy call the home of the victim and tricked that person regarding visitation with the deputiess and victims children. "Victim" is the ex of deputy. The victim complained that the deputy was using the office and other deputies to get involved in family matters. Nothing happened. The deputy continues to defame the victim and won't turn over the stolen emails when so ordered by the family court. Who is the "victim" to go to. Can't the Sheriff be liable for not upholding the law and doing nothing regarding the deputy including the deputies crime? It doesn't matter if I don't want it to be made public or not. The fact is no one has a right to illegally hack into ones private email accounts especially a police officer who well knows its against the law. Plus its not a good idea to use police equipment to commit the crime as well. Then for the entire dept to "cover it up" and not do anything about it is shameful too. This is addressed to LovestheConstitution: I'm searching for attorney, the hard thing is getting one who will go against the police dept. Getting the opinions of others and putting the question out there may shed light regarding others who have found them in similar circumstances. I have found conflicting opinions while researching the law, and asking this question may give me an idea on what a jury may decide in civil case.
who would you contact about the bulloch co. sheriffs office on the treatment of an inmate? they have him in lock down because of his charges, but he is supose to be able to call and have contact with his family, go to the store to get personal items ect. they will not let him call, shave, or anything else. they give us the run around as if they do not know there backside from a hole in the ground. one says he can have this stuff the next says he cant. it is not right he has the right to say clean, because he is innocent until proven guilt. no guilty until proven innocent.
Your thoughts Sheriff's Office working with Local Police? I am looking for opinions from Deputies and Officers on the matter especially from those who work for a Sheriff's Office that provides court security, correctional security, and serving of civil processes, and limited law enforcement services; and the Officers where thier Police Department provides primary law enforcement services much like the South Eastern Virginia Area, I would Prefer the responses to be from officers and deputies from Commonwealths like Virginia. Civilian responses are fine too. I am really looking for information on how well the two work together or not work together. Any and all help would be great.
How do you report a county sheriff's office? My family owns a 52 unit mobile home park. A tenant with over 100 criminal charges snuck in under the radar into our park. The sheriff's office has been called to the park a dozen or so times and refuses to arrest him in spite of erratic and dangerous driving, threatening tenants, cursing at the top of his lungs, and intimidating women. In fact the sheriff's office arrested someone who was assaulted instead of the person who assaulted him. We are flabbergasted and fear for our tenants, two of whom have already moved because of this person. Either the office is corrupt or scared of this individual. We have him scheduled for eviction in 15 days, but right now he has the run of the park and the tenants are afraid to make complaints to the sherrif's department for fear of being arrested themselves. This is reminding me of a Kafka novel. Anyone have suggestions? Thanks.
Who would you make a complaint against a Sheriff's office to? Is there some kind of hierarchy in the criminal justice system where you can file a complaint against a Sheriff's office? I live in a tiny town in TX and it is simply lawless. The Sheriff's office never takes any complaint seriously. They have many fund raising functions, but will not even send out the dog catcher if we have starving strays running around. There is a huge opinion in this town that it is totally lawless. And basically that opinion is true. People run around with arrest warrants that are never arrested, and it has become a haven for outlaws on the run. (literally) Who do you report an ineffective department to?
would a sheriff come along to clear belonging out of a office dispute? this is about a insurance company , his workers have set up a different bank accout and have had all moneys deposited there instead of going into the buisness account, what would he have to do first , so that he would recieve all buisness files the office is in a building that one of his workers owns is that going to cause any extra difficulies
Does anyone know who to contact about the sheriff steeling my money.? I won a stettlement against the sheriffs office or should I say state or count. The Signing and damage causing/inflicting sheriffs deputy stole the money owed to me in the settlement. Who would I contact. This is screwing up my life. I need an agency and who would I contact about Copy of a case file If it was illegally destoryed? and the sheriff or the county won't acknowledge the settlement where would I get a copy he stole mine and I can't prove it.
Has anyone been served papers by their sheriffs office before? Is it always bad news?? Had the sheriffs office call my boyfriend Friday to ask if they could schedule a time to come out and serve him papers. In the back of my head I'm thinking it cant be that bad if they are calling to schedule a time. But then of course it cant be great either if the sheriff is giving you something. I guess I'm just really nervous and upset with it all and need someone to kinda help me out here.
can anyone take a polygraph test at the local sheriffs office? My neighbors have been harrassing my family about stealing there dog and we told them we didnt but they keep on making up new stories especially on my 7 year old daughter saying that my daughter is telling everyone we did when I know she isnt. Anyhow the only way I know to get to the truth is to take a polygraph my family and my neighbors. Then everyone can see the truth and my neighbors will look like fools. Allthough they may refuse to take one. If you can get it done does it cost and how much?
